Overview
Babani Soundsystem launched their highly anticipated single LÉLOU with a free–entry celebration blending live music, vinyl listening sessions, and visual art. The night honored Mauritian legend Menwar, whose original “Lélou” track (1977) inspired this contemporary reinterpretation of fusion sega and electronic soundscapes.

My Role
I led marketing coordination and guestlist strategy for this one–night–only, high–impact event, working closely with the Babani team and artists to drive visibility and attendance. As the event was free to attend, our focus shifted toward personal outreach and curated community building, with no reliance on paid advertising or ticketing platforms.
Marketing + Strategy
- Developed a 1:1 direct messaging campaign, tapping into Babani’s and the artists’ existing networks to build hype and secure RSVPs
- Created clear and visually engaging comms assets for WhatsApp, Instagram DMs, and email
- Oversaw guestlist management and check–in logistics to ensure smooth entry and crowd control
- Aligned comms tone to match Babani’s grassroots, music–first identity
Event Outcomes
- Full–capacity turnout with strong engagement from artists, friends of the label, media, and first-time attendees
- A heartfelt, community–driven celebration of heritage and innovation through music.
- Reinforced Babani’s positioning as a cultural tastemaker and intergenerational bridge
